What do we do? During our monthly meetings we regularly sign letters to authorities around the world where human rights defenders need our support. We organise events to publicise Amnesty’s work and its campaigns.
When the UK government needs to be reminded of its duties under human rights conventions and laws we are not afraid to remind them too.
We frequently have speakers to our meetings who come with a breadth and depth of knowledge to inform and inspire us.
We are really pleased to found our new home at St Joseph’s Community Centre and we meet each month. When? It’s easy – the final Thursday of the month at 7.15pm. We generally finish around 9.15-9.30pm. The only exceptions are in August and December when we do not meet.

When Colwyn Bay Division St John Ambulance Cymru was looking for a new home in 2017 the parish centre came to our rescue! You may have noticed our ambulance parked under the trees. As part of a covid reshuffle our ambulance is now housed elsewhere, but we’re still here! We have our training nights on Mondays and attend events across the region providing first aid cover and community training. We’re a jolly bunch, so do pop along to say hi. We’re currently a small gang, but always welcome new faces if you think first aid might be for you. If you’re looking for a new hobby, skill, or a new way to serve your community come along and see us or visit the St John Wales website for more details.
As we come out of covid times we’re looking forward to being involved in the exciting developments at the parish centre and continuing to be part of the parish family.
We’re delighted that we have been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund and we wondered if your newspaper could help give us a little extra promotion?
As you can imagine, the last 18 months have been really challenging for small, charitable groups like ours. The pandemic has drastically affected our fundraising efforts, so we’re grateful to have this partnership with the local Co-op.
We’re urging local members to choose us as their cause so we can deliver our project and help more people in Colwyn Bay.
When members buy selected Co-op branded products and services, 2p from every pound spent goes to support local causes like ours.
